St RCHF is a member of The World Health Organization STOP TB department and has first hand experience in TB with sick ones both in hospitals and afterwards at home. We have for many years enjoyed a strong and healthy collaboration with The Hospital of Pneumologie in Iasi city of Romania.
The north-east Counties of Romania because of poverty and sub standard conditions in many both urban and rural areas along with sheer hardship among many citizens all allows serious illness to flourish including tuberculosis including among children.
Sadly Romania year after year shows the highest number of its population infected with tuberculosis in all of Europe with lives lost each year. It is not uncommon for a whole family to be interned in hospital all suffering from this highly contagious illness which is passed from an infected person to another non infected person/persons via the air we breathe. Many who fall sick do not realize they have TB and think its a bad cold or the like and self medicate with paracetamol and in this time pas the illness to other family members and other people they meet also.
Treatment for tuberculosis in Romania is in line with the World Health Organization DOTS model and functions well despite old and aging hospitals that are well past their best. Medical teams have vast experience and overcome shortages to the patients benefit.
St RCHF works both hands on and in TB education in the rural areas and some years ago developed a unique TB educational board game to help children learn with ease about tuberculosis.

Stichting Romanian Children’s’ Humanitarian Foundation receives some monthly donations from long standing supporters who recognize the importance of our work that brings hope and raises standards for the poorest of people in eastern Europe today including both children and the old aged people who suffer the most when living in hard circumstances. We educate children to a better standard in pre schools and schools via the superb Timmy Mouse educational aids that allow every child to learn with ease, plus provide essential school materials to many a child who’s parents have no financial means, support families in difficulty to raise their heads above water and allow a healthier lifestyle, plus help the sick back to health in well designed projects and also provide summer holiday camps for children without the possibility of even a days holiday and much more besides.
